Explore Ireland’s finest golf courses with Victor

With over 400 golf clubs, including a third of the world’s natural links courses, it is fair to say that the Irish golfing community is somewhat spoilt for choice. With fewer crowds and daylight-saving hours still in effect, most locals will argue that the month of September is the best time to enjoy a round of golf in Ireland.

In this article we have listed three incredible opportunities for golfing enthusiasts’ courtesy of Victor Alto partners Golf Traveller and StayOne.

World-class links on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

Through our Alto partner, Golf Traveller, you can traverse the dramatic landscape from Derry to Cork, while taking in six of Ireland’s top golf courses.

Your journey will start from Old Head, located south of Kinsale, where you’ll find yourself amidst the vast expanse of the ocean, playing along a two-mile-long coastline. Continuing westward, you’ll reach Waterville, where your drives will be framed by the beauty of a serene lake and the expansive blue horizon. Next, you’ll experience Arnold Palmer’s inaugural European masterpiece, Tralee, followed by the renowned Ballybunion, Ireland’s top-ranked golf course.

Your itinerary also includes Adare Manor, which will soon become far more restricted as it prepares to host the 2026 Ryder Cup, and Lahinch, a golf course shaped not only by the brilliance of Old Tom Morris but also by the design of Alister McKenzie.

The 19th hole: The Carriage House Restaurant, Terrace and Bar in Adare Manor Hotel provides the perfect spot for a post-golf drink after a long day walking the fairways. In Ballybunion, McMunn’s bar prides itself on its whisky and Guinness while also offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Cork Airport is a 40-minute drive away from the starting point of this itinerary. The best way to maximise your time on the golf course is to arrange helicopter transfers through Victor, this way you can take in the scenery from above and save hours that would otherwise be spent on the road.
